{Guilt-Free Pizza...Almost}

December 21, 2011

My husband and I made the most delicious meal last night, and I just have to share it with you.  Around the Beverly household, we try to eat extremely healthy throughout the week, and we''ll let ourselves splurge on weekends.  Now I don't know about y'all, but Forrest and I LOVE pizza!!  That is often our weekend treat, but for some reason we were both craving it last night.

To satisfy our craving, we decided we would try to make a carb-smart version of the delicious treat.  We hopped in the car, made our way to the grocery store, and started on our mission to shop for the ingredients for this healthy pizza we had created in our minds.

We had such a great time cooking together, and the pizza was soooooo yummy!!!  You have to try it, and here's how:

1) Roll out and form lean ground turkey meat into your "crust" {we used 99% lean meat to make it extra healthy}, and cover with a light layer of shredded cheese.
2) Add sauce {we used 1 jar of Classico spaghetti sauce}.
3) Spread sauce carefully over cheese to cover entire pizza.
4) Add your veggie toppings of choice {I added red & green peppers and onion}.
5) Add light layer of meat {I used some lightly-cooked turkey bacon}.
6) Follow with large pepperonis {you can use Canadian Bacon if you prefer}.
7) Sprinkle a light layer of shredded cheese to finish.
8) Bake at 400 degrees for 23 minutes.

VIOLA!!  Yummy pizza that is {almost} guilt-free!
I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!
