There is nothing better than fitting into your non-maternity clothes after your baby arrives, but if you're anything like me, it definitely doesn't happen overnight. The first few weeks postpartum were great...The pounds were just melting away, and I was thrilled...Until that weight loss came to a screeching halt. I knew it was too good to be true to think that ALL of the pregnancy weight would just magically disappear. ;)
It was time to get my tail in gear...My doctor gave me the green light at 4 weeks to start incorporating light exercise back into my routine, and I gave my body a good 6 weeks to recover from labor and delivery before I started any hard core workouts. After 4 weeks, I started walking on the treadmill again at a medium speed and high incline. This was a great way to ease back into working out, and it felt good to get back into the swing of things.
After a couple weeks of only working out on the treadmill, I could tell it was time to amp up my workout regimen and add weights back into my daily routine. How in the world was I going to do that with a baby at home and no time to spend two hours in a gym?
