{New Year from a New Mom's Perspective}

January 09, 2014

I can't believe 2013 has come and gone, and 2014 is well underway.  Where does the time go?  It is true what people say…The days pass and time flies even quicker once you have kids.  I was hoping that statement would be false and that the days would slowly creep by so I could live in the moment and savor every second.

We're often so quick to wish our lives away, but I have finally reached a point where I wish time would just stand still.  You see, 2013 was my most exciting year, and I can't even believe how much I anxiously awaited that shimmering 2012 ball to drop to ring in 2013.  I was so excited because that meant we were just a few short weeks away from becoming parents and welcoming our baby girl into the world.

2013 will always be the best year of my life…It was the year that my beautiful daughter was born…It was the year that I became a Mom…It was the year that I looked into my sweet Kate's eyes for the very first time...It was the year I saw her first smile, gave her her first bath, had her baptized, took her to the beach for the first time, watched her learn to crawl, fought back tears as she took her first steps, introduced her to Santa and saw her eyes light up at the sight of her first tree, wiped away her tears when she got her first "boo-boo", cuddled her when she had her first cold, and snuggled her so tightly when she mumbled her first words.

My list could go on and on and on forever, but for now I'll keep it simple.  2013 will always be my most special year, but 2014 comes in a close second.  The start of this new year means my baby's first year of life is almost complete…I will cherish these "firsts" forever, and in just a few short weeks, I will be celebrating my most perfect one year-old.  I can't think of a better way to kick-off the new year!

So, this new year brings new goals, new dreams, new aspirations, but most importantly, this year brings new milestones to celebrate in my sweet baby Kate's beautiful life.

I thought I would leave y'all with a little heartwarming video…This is the new P&G Commercial for the 2014 Olympics, and I was hooked as soon as I saw those little baby legs taking first steps as those little baby fingers clung tightly to Mom's hands…It was like I was reliving my sweet girl's year of firsts again, and it totally tugs at my heartstrings.  Enjoy...

xoxo,
Katherine
